Stress, the unwanted companion that everyone has, is the most potent killer out there. You don't know how it effects you, how it plays different roles in your life, how it manipulates your everyday decisions, relations, and ultimately, when it wants, takes you life away. Just like that. The worst part is that it is not even detected. In fact, more often than not, most of the terminal diseases, which are detectable, are often created through stress.
Hence imagine, in todays day and age of post science and technology, we don't have any proven ways to measure the level of stress generated, one of the most potent reason out there for killing human beings. From small, everyday illness such as headaches, insomnia or low productivity at work, stress is also known to be a cause for bigger health issues such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and even cancer.
Every human being is different and stress affects every human being differently. However, there is one common trait when it comes to studying the effects of stress on human body - that it takes a long time before creating itself into something serious. Its the constant, everyday stress that ends up into big chronic diseases which can change lives drastically. Worst of all, it not only affects your life, it has a much deeper impact on the people around you.
All the small things from not getting enough sleep at night, that bad coworker, that small fight with your spouse, all these things, slowly accumulates and rots our human body from inside.
Stress is not bad, if and only if, managed properly
How to manage stress (no lists):
If to take a guess, there would be more than 1000 posts on the internet on how to manage stress. I have compiled many points on managing stress as well. A key component of managing stress is doing less things, and ensuring lesser things affect you. However, doing lesser things by adding one more list sounds a little hypocritical.
Hence, I present to you the 2 most important things you can do on a daily basis. You don't need to worry about remembering it, making time for it in your schedule. Just do these 2 things daily and you will see a drastic difference in your life in less than a month.
1. Spend 10 minutes with your self -
Seems easy and self explanatory. Ensure you spend 10 minutes, morning, afternoon or evening, anytime of the day with your self. It means no phone, music, TV, company of anyone else, exercise, walking, nothing. You can close your eyes and meditate in these 10 minutes if you like, or don't. But ensure, you dedicate at least 10 minutes, without doing anything with yourself.
Usually, it is better if you can do it in the morning, but dedicating these 10 minutes is more important rather than choosing the time of day.
2. Maintain a diary -
Promise this won't take a lot of time. You have to spend less than 1 minute on this diary. In the morning, you just need to write 2 things ->
a. Things you are greatful for (can be 2 or 3)
b. Things you want to achieve today (not more than 3)
Thats it. But make sure you do them everyday.
An icing on the cake will be if you can visit this diary in the night, and fill 2 things:
a. Today was a good day because (you can write 2-3 things, more if you like)
b. The day still could have been better if... (maximum 2-3 things)
Thats it!!!!!! No lists, no complex things to do and definitely no difficult things to remember.
